Is it just me, or is all of this hype about Michael Owen's international future boring? So what, he didn't get called up as a replacement for Heskey, Darren Bent did. Put it this way, Bent has made 17 starts, 11 appearances as a subsitute and scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season. He's fully fit and played in Spurs' recent games. Michael Owen has made 16 starts, five appearances as a substitute and scored eight league goals. He didn't play in Newcastle last game and has recently come back from a long spell on the sidelines.
Owen didn't get a call up because he's not in form and not fit. Cappello isn't stupid. He knows when someone is useful to him - as he proved when he recalled Beckham to his Real Madrid starting XI. Owen has got a future, if not because he deserves one, but because of the dearth of striking talent elsewhere in the England squad.
